LAURA GRANADA ESPITIA
Laura Granada is a Veterinary Doctor from the National University of Colombia, has a Masters in Music Therapy from the National University of Colombia and a Masters in Mindfulness from the University of Zaragoza, Spain, with extensive experience in clinical and community fields. She is a pioneer in the creation of a comprehensive approach aimed at all spheres of the human being, including mindfulness, meditation, music, compassion, mindful movement, and mindful eating.
Laura Granada is a Veterinary Doctor from the National University of Colombia, with a Masters in Music Therapy from the same University and a Masters in Mindfulness from the University of Zaragoza, Spain. Currently based in the US, she has had the opportunity to live in numerous cities in Colombia, as well as in Brazil, the United States, and Spain, which has given her a broad vision of the human condition and the incessant pursuit of happiness that is common to us all.
She has extensive experience in the practice of music therapy and teaching mindfulness, meditation, and self-compassion courses, workshops, and sessions.
She has completed additional professional training, which continues to this date, given her great interest in expanding her knowledge and skills, such as Foundations of Contemplative Care from the New York Zen Center; The three codes of ethics through the Sakya Foundation; the CIDEB Meditation Training in Alicante, Spain; Integral Mental Training, through the CIDEB in Spain, Neurodharma and Foundations of Well-Being, taught by Rick Hanson; The inner causes of distress and Well-being, taught by Allan Wallace, through Nirakara and Fundación Sakya, CDP (Community for deepening practice of Self-Compassion).
She has completed trainings and courses such as “De–mystifying mindfulness” from Universiteit Leiden, “The Science of happiness”, from the University of California, Berkeley; MSC (Mindfulness Self-Compassion) from the Center for Mindfulness Self-Compassion; MBSR (Mindfulness based Stress- Reduction) with Palouse Mindfulness; training in Plurimodal Approach to Music Therapy, through ADIM in Argentina and SONO, Colombia; training in Vibroacoustic Music Therapy, through the Vibroacoustic Music Therapy Center of Argentina and SONO and training in belly dance with Zahira.
She has experience in the clinical, community and educational fields, as well as conducting scientific research, making internships and working as a music therapist in places such as the Simón Bolívar III Hospital ESE level in the Burn Patient Unit; in the Present Palliative Care Unit; in the Fundación Grupo Alegría, with children with cancer and their families; with health staff, such as nurses and doctors in various hospital institutions, in the Social Development Secretary of the City Hall of Cota, in the early childhood care programs, the program that cares for the population with disabilities, a program for the elderly and institutional music therapy; in CIREC with children with disabilities and in the Memory Clinic of the National University of Colombia, with elderly clients with cognitive impairment as a result of Alzheimer’s disease or other conditions. As a music therapist, she also has experience working with teachers and has given talks and trainings on Mindfulness, in contexts such as Adeun’s lecture cycles at the National University of Colombia.
